Light Speed, or No Speed!


A friend of mine wanted to share his experience with the new Lightspeed inet service. So i am posting his article, i think it will shade some light on their services. BEFORE u subscribe to them read this:


I was very happy to know that the unlimited Internet is back to Bahrain, thanks to Batelco for applying a downloading limit which has sent us ages back in technology.

So when I first read about Light Speed ad on the newspapers I directly went and subscribed in their service and all the fun began! They disconnected me from Batelco’s internet “which was the right thing to do since I already had Batelco’s internet on the same line I wanted the new internet to be on” and while they promised me that ill be getting the internet service after two days from disconnecting Batelco, I was left without internet for nearly a MONTH!!! Imagine one month without being able to check your email and being totally disconnected!! so after a month I was happy that the internet finally worked, the speed I subscribed for is 1mb but the actual speed that I’m getting is maybe around 256kb!! And it worked for two days and it went out for another week!! It came back for a day again it went out!! And the dilemma is still continuing.

I work from 8 till 5 and when I go home I like to surf the internet and check my email, and this is the only time I can know if the internet is working or not, so if I come back from work and see that the internet is not working I would naturally try to call Light Speed and guess what! Nobody will answer your phone call!!! They don’t have a help desk or a hotline.

Now thanks to companies like Light Speed which makes Companies we hate the most like Batelco Look so good and so professional.

truth is, theyre a brand new company and im assuming they havent really become very stable yet. I'm considering switching to them but i decided to give them a few months to fix out all the bugs. normal for a new company. mtc had ridiculous service when they first started, but now theyre doing pretty well, again, it takes time to stablize. hope for the best.

Yeah the same problem here. I've subscribed for 512k but what I've got is not nearly a 100k! and add to the really bad phone customer service, the billing service is far more worse!! and the line's always disconnecting. I've grown couple of white hairs because of it!!!!!

Sorry to here about the bad service from Lightspeed. you know mst of the new entrants are lke that they make promises and set expectations that they cannot meet and their only real success is coming from the fact that most people in Bahrain hate Batelco!!
The truth is there service, speed and contention ratio for the internet is far superior...

I dont know what are you guys talking about!! Me and couple of my friends are using Lightspeed's services and its working perfectly! ok i faced a couple of disconnections within 4 months but nothing that a rebooting the Livebox wont fix :) my 1 MB connection gives me an actual of 846 KB when i do an online speed test and that is understandable.
I know that they faced some problems at first but now, they are very reliable, at least for me . I even advised my friends to use Lightspeed and they are quite content!

Hi,
I've been using Lightspeed's 640K connection for about 6 months now, and am glad to say that im happy with it.

Pros and cons for anyone considering it:
+ Stable connection
+ IP changes only once a day - at around 5 AM
- Router (Sagem) is crap. Needs to be restarted every week or so. Has issues with special options (DynDNS)
+ Access to router settings allowed - useful for torrent port setup.
+ Voice line from router, over RJ11.
- Voice line does not have priority over data - voice quality drops during heavy downloading.
- Support quality is acceptable, though not great.
+ Support staff are very friendly.

ShittySpeed, I mean lightspeed has the worst internet structure ever in bahrain! weak bandwidth, rush housrs, too many ppl on connections not stable DNS, stuiped help desk and tech guy who dont know anything about their work! I have 2 MB connection and all I get is 256, night working and no in the day, livebox is not working which I had to buy my own router and lots of problems, Just stay away from this company! unless u want a headache or u dont car about ur speed and how much u pay 4 nuthin !!! thank you

One of the worst network service in Bahrain is Lightspeed. I advise people think 100 times before you take lightspeed internet connection.
